Martin: Back at our favorite shack.
Me: 13 of us met in Prescott to pre-ride the Whiskey 50 course, a race we'll be doing on April 28th. It was a tough ride: 50 miles with quite a bit of single track, a lot of dirt jeep road and some very long, steep climbs! It was a spectacular sunny, cool day and we all had a blast. Celebrated afterwards with hamburgers from Gurley Street Grill (it rates right up there with Diablo Burger in Flagstaff - so good!).

Pic is from Skull Valley in front of garage with old gas tanks that still operate.

Martin: Weather report for today.

Me: "The campground" (what we've been calling our new house lately) is taking shape! The upstairs walls are textured and primed plus the ceilings and closets have been painted with Swiss Coffee. But more exciting than that is James and Bob took out the floor above the dining room yesterday. It opens up the downstairs even more. Love the high ceiling in this room now plus the extra light that fills the whole house. Despite the dust, clutter and obvious work that lies ahead...mom likes it.

Martin: Took this shot while waiting for Adrian's soccer game to start. The big stork was being hassled by these smaller minor birds. Must have landed in their nesting tree. They just kept bombing him until he flew away and they still chased him.
Me: Mom, Nancy, Curt and Bob went to the ASU women's softball game tonight. ASU won 9-1 in six innings. Hot dogs, nachos and a beautiful evening to sit outside - what could be better!?
I was at a cooking class with some girlfriends but met Curt, Nancy, Bob and Mom afterwards for Orange Leaf yogurt (the tastiest around!).

Martin: Bob, your friends were waiting for a feed most of the afternoon.
Me: Fun to have Nancy join Harley and I on our sunrise trail run!

Martin: Weather report from today.
Me: Great-Grandma and Kavan.

Mom is getting in some quality great-grandson time. We were able to watch Kavan yesterday, today and we will tomorrow too. Kavan is such a good natured little sweetie and loves to have Great-Grandma hold him. Great-Grandma loves it too!

Martin: Back to painting the front door area. Will be glad to see it finished, so will Ruth.
Me: We met my long time friend, Todd, his wife Andria and their new little one, Ella yesterday at Hope Church. They have been visiting the states since January but are heading back home on April 12th to Rwanda. Todd and Andria have been missionaries in Africa for two years and are doing some incredible things for the people of Rwanda. Check out their web-site: "City of Joy".

It was really nice to see them. Todd and I used to work together at Iowa Okoboji Lutheran Bible Camp in the late 80's!
______________

My Mom, brother, Curt and sister-in-law, Nancy arrived last night. Yeah! Today Nancy went swimming with Bob and I, Mom rode the stationary bike at the gym while we lifted weights, Mom and I watched Kavan for a couple hours, Bob painted, and we all toured "The Project" (our new house!).

4-1-12

Martin: Finn from last night. He came across this site about foxy cats or something like that.
Me: Spent the afternoon at the Vet's office. :-( Poor Harley had a scuffle with a Javelina on our desert walk. She got some stitches, a sprained leg and a treat for being brave. She'll be as good as new in a week or so.
