Uganda (Tororo)

On July 19th our team drove to the headquarters for Hope4Kids International; Uganda office.
There we received a warm welcome from the local staff.
We also had a lovely greeting by the children's choir. Many of these kids are sponsored from folks in America. They are thriving and happy!
Check out these awesome kids!
And awesome leaders; Judith on the left is the head director in Tororo for Hope4Kids.
She really is an amazing person... so many talents as we would see while in Uganda.
Judith leading a song.
Happiness is contagious!
LOVE!
After singing the kids changed into their school uniforms.
April gave a big hug to Sam! Sam is April's sponsored kid whom she met 4 years ago when she came to Uganda with her mom. According to April... Sam has grown a LOT in 4 years. Sweet boy.
The kids love April and they love the camera!
"Cheeeeese!"
Cuties!
Strike a pose. :-)
I want a hug too! :-)
Here is our USA team and UGANDA staff HOPE 4 KIDS International.
Our team left headquarters & had lunch at this lovely boutique hotel.
Beautiful property.
The lush grounds were very Hawaii like.
After a yummy lunch our group split into groups to head to different mission opportunities; those pics in my next post.

Uganda (The Nile)

April & I flew from Amsterdam to Entebbe, Uganda on July 17th.
On July 18th we met many from our team with Hope4Kids International. We'd all become good friends in the days ahead.
Here is Tom Eggum, founder of Hope4Kids International. He is introducing Bobby who is from Uganda and Tom's best friend. Bobby is also Hope4Kids main driver in Uganda. He manages the buses to and from each day's outreach.
April enjoying a coffee with Heidi. Heidi's from Orange County & this is her 1st mission trip to Africa.
On the bus for the 6 hour drive to Tororo, Uganda; our base for the next 10 days.
One very COOL stop along our drive was The Nile River.
We also got to see the SOURCE of the Nile River near Lake Victoria.
We put on our life jackets...
...found a nice wooden boat & sailer...
...and set out for an interesting tour.
Right here is the SOURCE of The Nile.
The source bubbles up out of the river and then flows north from Lake Victoria.

We did a little shopping near The Nile too. Colorful market with cute stuff.
Heidi & April on the left. Carol Anne from Virginia on the right.

Fascinated with the building structure and the grass roof being installed.
More sights along our drive...
Rice Fields.
Baboons.
Cute baby baboon.
They liked the bananas we threw out the windows.
I liked this boat.
I liked this day.
God is Good.

Amsterdam (cont)...

MORE pics from 3 days in Amsterdam...
April & I biking all over town!
Through pretty parks.
Through tunnels.
By 1000's of flowers.
Biking in skirts was great! We felt sophisticated or something. LOL!
Wheeeee!
No hands!
We visited a cat shelter... those eyes!!
Sweet kitties.
A quick stop to see how April measures up to the tallest man in the world.
And a trip to Central Train Station to board a ferry boat for a little more sightseeing.
Getting a birds eye view of Amsterdam.

Another nice day.
Have you ever seen a parking lot for bikes?
This is next to the train station and there were several lots like this.
I wonder how many owners can't remember where they parked their bike? Hahaha.
So long Amsterdam... it was FUN!
You keep me coming back. :-)
