7/25: Last mountain bike ride in Tahoe this summer (part 1)... Marlette Lake lookout with friends, Julie & Chris. We had a great day showing them our favorite mountain bike ride.
Chris cruising down the single track TRT under a brilliant blue sky.
Happy to ride with Julie again before leaving Tahoe. She's a good egg!
This is a fun perspective coming to the top of Marlett Lake Lookout.
Bob, Julie & Chris.
The view of Marlette Lake & huge Lake Tahoe in the background is stunning.
Don't ride any further, guys! :-)
Sweet success after a long climb up, up, up.
It's now tradition to take Bob's pic riding with this backdrop. It's his happy place. :-)
Can you believe we had to cross snow? We did...twice!
Click & enlarge photo to see Chris & Julie.
Sailing through the wildflowers. Beautiful!
Do we look happy...'cause we were. Wheeeeeeee!

Part 2 tomorrow...

Wednesday & Thursday...
Ice Cream at Camp Richardson. The kid's scoop is huge! Yummy!
Bike Riding on Lime Bikes!
South Lake Tahoe is trying out a new bike share system. It's only $1 to ride for 30 minutes. You download the Lime Bike app & off you can go. You pick up a bike anywhere you see one parked and drop it off anywhere in a bike rack or on the curb within the boundary of South Lake Tahoe. They introduced the bikes on July 15th and they seem to be getting used frequently.
Beach time with Harley & Tippy. #luckydogs
Gorgeous morning. Love this viewing spot in the shade of the pine trees. We all enjoyed walking around Tallac...seeing the Baldwin & Pope estates & many historical cabins.
El Dorado beach concert. We briefly stopped by to hear the music & people watch. Every Thursday is a concert at El Dorado. Other fun with Bob's parents; dinner out at Mc P's & Scousa. Movie watching, relaxing & dinner at the cabin. Bob & Bob replaced the damaged cabin shingles and Pat & Bob saw a bear on their morning walk!! Thank you, Pat & Bob for the wonderful time together in Tahoe!

So yesterday Bob, Pat & Tippy plus Bob drove from Los Altos Hills to Lake Tahoe. But on the way they stopped at a very special place to do a hike, a cliff jump & a lot of reminiscing.
That special place is here...
The American River.
It's a beautiful place & someday I'll get there to see it with Bob.
Bob was a little guy when he and his dad & grandpa would come to the American River to fish. They have some good stories of their fishing secrets & American River fun.
While Pat & Tippy stayed back...Bob and Bob went on a hike along the river.
Bob wasted no time getting in the water after he found his old cliff jumping spot.
Here's his jump!!!!! Nice but yikes. :-)
What a pretty river!
I am so happy Bob got back to the American River with his folks this summer! Looks like they are happy too!
After their American River adventure this crew arrived at the cabin to spend a few days with us. Yay!

Christmas in July!
Making a Christmas tree out of broken branches in my spare time. LOL.
Left over sticks from Bob's trees trimming put to use.
Stick stacking is good for the soul. :-)
Does this qualify as a sculpture? Art?
Merry Christmas!

So Bob left on Saturday for a 2 & 1/2 day trip. He'll fly into San Jose tonight & tomorrow he & his folks will drive up to the cabin. It's our last week in Tahoe (wow, those 6 weeks went fast)!
The air is looking clear again in Tahoe. These pics are from yesterday at Camp Richardson.
Beautiful Lake Tahoe! I had a lazy day & went to another free lawn concert at Valhalla.
These are recent pics from Bob. Posting them since they're pretty cool. :-)
Lake Powell.
Can you spot Horseshoe Bend?

7/20: The tree company arrived!
It was a dirty job cutting, carrying & stuffing the trailer to the brim (load #1 above).
The 3 man crew was short 1 guy so guess who jumped in to help.
Bob was all smiles. Maybe we should call this workout Tree-fit!
Up & down & up & down this hill.
Here is one of the big dead trees (it's knocking over a nice pine).
Great to get that one cut down!
Thanks to Kevin, TJ, Max AND Bob! The yard looks awesome!

PS: Bob & I are truly thankful to the Meneely's & Tsang's for our time at the cabin each summer. We are happy to help with any projects or maintenance items while we're here. We think it's fun too!

7-22-17

In-between biking, hiking & lake time Bob was busy using his new ladder. Over 3 days he trimmed dead branches off numerous trees around the cabin. As a result he made HUGE piles of sticks (above pic shows 1 of 6 piles)! Check out some of the "before" trees & Bob's hard work...

It feels good to do cabin projects & this one was very satisfying! The pine trees look so nice & cleaned up. The work isn't quite done yet though. Tomorrow a tree company is coming to haul away the piles of branches, rake up the million smaller sticks & pine needles & chain saw down 3 dead trees. Excited for that!
