Queen for a day...and EVERY day!

Princess Harley showing off her regal pose. :-)

James & Bob installing our new window.
Harley supervising.
The finished window looks great. It's so clean & clear that it doesn't even look like there is glass in there! Our old window had a middle divider & the seal was broken so moisture was inside & making the glass cloudy. Thanks, James & Bob!

So we painted our old garage sale stools metallic silver. They were black before.
The silver legs look good & match the 2 metal posts downstairs. Even though I like the retro green fabric it's time for a change.
Here are 3 swatches we currently like.
It's really too hard to pick from such small samples. We welcome your input!

New couch & new pillows! Found this inexpensive sleeper sofa on Wayfair.com; a website many friends rave about for home furnishings. We needed something to take the place of the 2 chairs that moved to the next room & I wanted it to function as a bed.
The sole reason for needing a part-time bed downstairs is my mom is staying with us in April for 2 weeks (maybe a bit longer if it goes well). Now that mom uses a walker she can't manage the stairs. I think & hope this set-up will work well for her visit.
Here's the back of the couch. I'm using the throw blanket to cover the 2 zippers where the pop-out bed support legs are stored. I think for the price it's a very nice couch.
Then I had to shop for pillows! :-) Love the pretty colors.
And fun textures.
New mustard yellow pillow.

BTW: Is the illustration better with 2 butterflies & 3 birds (below)? Maybe there needs to be a sun in the picture? Hmmm.

Bob's been home, then gone, then home & now gone again. Harley taking advantage of the time Bob had for a dog run early this morning. Bob left at 8am & he'll be home at 6pm tonight. He's had quite a few short trips these last 2 weeks which will allow him to go to Argentina with me in March. Yay!!

2-19-17

A very rainy morning!! Abbie & I were signed up to do a 5 mile running race so we had to toughen up. Glad we had our support crew of Bob, Mike & Ellie who cheered & took our jackets last minute.
Then we were off. It was awfully wet out there. Cold too. And since we were doing the trail run we had a LOT of puddles, slick rocks & mud to navigate!
It was definitely an adventurous 5 miles!
I finished up 1st in my age group (45-49), was 10th female overall and 28th out of 440 runners (men & women). Happy with that result!
How cute is this little peanut!? She was so good & even gave Abbie a high 5 when she finished. 8 month old, Ellie. :-)

Harley's thoughts...

1) I hear you coyotes but I am the boss.
2) Here bunny, bunny, bunny, bunny!!
3) This is my "I wanna take a walk" look. Is it working, mom?!
4) I'm hungry. 23 more minutes until dinner time.
4) My good sniffer says rain is in the air. I don't like getting wet. In fact, I hate dog baths.
I don't need a bath; I smell pretty!
5) I also don't like the vet. Don't take me to the vet ever.
5) SQUIRREL!!!!

Getting a vaccine shot, and then another and another and another!!

Bob & I will be traveling to Argentina next month & then Africa in October!! Now is the time to get our Hep A, Hep B, Typhoid, & Yellow Fever vaccinations. These are all on the CDC recommended list. No surprise but we both had really sore arms the next day! :-/ I'll write more later about our upcoming trips but Argentina involves cycling & Africa involves hiking (& seeing a few big animals)!! :-)

I guess we're keeping the carpet! :-)

Harley makes the point every morning & throughout the day that this rug is great.
It's soft & suitable for lounging (Harley's words).

Happy Valentine's Day!

Hope you all had a SWEET day.
XOXO to my Valentine, Bob. Luv U!

The story of Penelope continues!
It's been months since I've been able to sit down & draw about Penelope the Positive Pony. Today I did & finished a page!

It felt good to go on a long hike today! Here is 1 armed "Vanna White" cactus. She used to have 2 arms & it looked like she was show casing a vowel (thus the name Vanna White). Sadly 1 of her arms fell off a couple years ago. :-(
It was so nice to have Bob home to go hiking too. Bob also has an arm problem (still recovering from surgery last month) but at least it hasn't fallen off!! ;-) Rich joined us hiking & he picked the route in South Mountain. We trekked 10 miles today!
Many tall happy saguaros along the trail.

I'm in a flower rut. ;-)
But I've never seen our aloe plant bloom before.
It's like little sunshines in our backyard.
Have a bright sunshiny day!

It's that time of year again!
Love the African Daisies blooming in the neighborhood.

This is Perro. We brought him home from Mexico.
Harley says Perro can stay. See...they can even be in the same room together without a dog fight. ;-) By the way...do you like the new rug in the piano room? I'm testing it out for a couple days & may return it.
But so far I like it...I think. It's soft & I like that the colors are muted. Had tried several bolder colored rugs but they didn't seem right. Maybe it's better with no rug? I also brought in the two chairs from the TV room which I like...I think. :-0 Now that leaves 2 empty spots in the TV room. Nothing like creating problems! :-/
Back to Perro. He's cute! And he likes the rug.

Sunflower Love.
Our neighbor, Patti grows the best sunflowers. They shine rising tall above our connecting backyard wall.
Thanks to Patti for sending the pretty pic.

Back on the boat we headed out to sea.
Lea was the whale tour coordinator. She's connected since she regularly charters boats for her scuba trips.
We passed a shipping boat...cool to see.
Then we spotted a whale!
Oh....there's a mommy & her baby!!
It really was exciting to see a whale & then another & another! They are HUGE!
During our 3 hour tour we spotted & were fairly close to about 10 Fin Whales and 1 Humpback Whale.
All amazing!
This was the 1st whale watching tour for Bob & I.
It was Harley's 1st whale experience too.
Harley eventually lost interest & took a nap.
We found a few pods of dolphins too. Several would swim along side the bow & play.
Harley awake & back at work directing the boat to land again.
Such a fun & successful whale watching tour. Thanks Lea & Nate!! The whole weekend was a blast. PS: After the tour we all drove back to Phoenix. No car lines crossing the border & we were home in 4 hours.
