Top of Lover's Leap
Bob, Jerome & Ashley
The 4 of us drove back to the cabin the night of June 23rd (after Yosemite).
The next day Jerome, Ashley & Bob did a famous climb in the area called Lover's Leap. That's Jerome leading the climb.
Corrugation Corner was the name of their route (there are a few options at Lover's Leap). I think Corrugation Corner had 3 pitches to reach the top.
Looks pretty crazy to me! Nice work Ashley!
This photo was taken in the Cave of Fear. What!? :-/
Ashley perched on the ledge waiting her turn to climb higher.
There she comes!
While these guys were having a fun climbing granite Harley & I were back @ the cabin hanging out & relaxing!
Glad Bob was able to do another climb with Rome & Ash!
Congrats!! You did it!!

PS: Bob found out later that Pete proposed to Deanna on top of Lover's Leap after they rock climbed it 10 years ago!! Fun. :-)

Thursday, June 23, 2016...HALF DOME!
Deanna & Pete led us on an amazing like in Yosemite!
Thank you!
This was Ashley & Jerome's 1st visit to Yosemite National Park & it brought big smiles!!
Bob & I were excited to see it too...it's magnificent! Several years ago Bob & I hiked to the top of Half Dome. The approach to the top was from the left & back from the sheer edge (as you look at this pic). When we hiked it the seasonal cable route was not set up but we used the cables anyway as they were lying on the ground & still secure in the granite. It was a quiet day in Yosemite then with only a few people at the top of Half Dome...a great memory!!
"Amazing!"
"Someday"
Love this pic of Jerome looking at Half Dome (photo credit to Pete). Pete has rock climbed the sheer wall of Half Dome & done many rock climbing outings in Yosemite. I am sure Jerome & Ashley will be back to Yosemite again to do some cool rock climbing routes. And someday...just maybe Half Dome!
Warning: many more shots of Half Dome...
Running in front of Half Dome.
Bob running faster.
Jumping in front of Half Dome!
Us jumping higher. ;-)
Sitting in front of Half Dome.
Standing.
Fish Eye of us & Half Dome.
The Crew!!!
9 mile round trip hike to North Dome with amazing views of Half Dome. Check.

This is still a continuation of Wednesday, June 22nd...
After rock climbing Crystal Crag we returned to our campsite at Lake Mary (above).
Here we rented a pontoon boat to cruise the little mountain lake at dusk.
It was so beautiful! We took turns paddle boarding.
Ashley & Jerome with Crystal Crag in the background.
And then it was Deanna & I trying YOGA on the boards. Not so easy!
Another awesome view of Crystal Crag!
Back to camp for an awesome dinner, a campfire with s'mores & then a good night's sleep in Pete & Deanna's camper. Can't thank Pete & Deanna enough for treating us to such a fantastic day & night in the woods. Tomorrow (6/23) the 6 of us are going to Yosemite for a day of hiking fun!
PS: Theo (4 years old) & Max (8 years old) were camping studs & so much fun to hang out with. Great kids!!

Ashley rock climbing up Crystal Crag! June 22, 2016
This was her 1st multi-pitch climb & she did GREAT!
Jerome & Ashley thrilled to be at the top of Crystal Crag!
Jerome started rock climbing when he was at Northwestern College in Iowa. There wasn't much outdoor climbing nearby but there was an indoor rock gym perfect for practicing his climbing skills.
Since college Jerome has sought out outdoor climbing like Devil's Tower & other places in The Black Hills for he & Ashley to conquer. Pretty cool that Bob could do some outdoor climbing with them on this trip!
And lucky we have Pete...the most experienced & fun outdoor adventurer we know. He was the ideal guide to take this crew up Crystal Crag... just one of the many climbs in his Mammoth backyard.
Love this shot of Bob at the top of Crystal Crag.
Photo credit to Pete for this & the top 3 pics. Pete is a great photographer with some very nice cameras to capture the perfect photo! Thanks, Pete!
Jerome taking it all in!
Ashley on the repel back down Crystal Crag. Ashley is a tough cookie and she & Jerome are a great adventure team!!
Just a short glissade on the snow to complete the climb.
They all slid safely back to me at Crystal Lake where I was hanging out after my Red Cone hike.
Pete, Jerome & Bob even braved a dip in the very cold water at Crystal Lake. Again photo credit to Pete & a huge thanks to Pete for this awesome outing!

Crystal Lake. June 22, 2016
The rock climbers & me.
On Wednesday morning (6/22) we drove from the cabin to Mammoth Lakes to hang out with Pete, Deanna & their 2 kids. Soon after we arrived Pete lead us on an adventure above Lake Mary (where we were camping), above Lake George & also above Crystal Lake.
Ashley pointing to Crystal Crag. She, Jerome, Bob & Pete were heading there to rock climb to the top.
I split from them at this point (Crystal Lake) where I did a beautiful hike to the top of Red Cone mountain.
This view is from my trek. You can see Crystal Crag mountain in the middle of the photo. It's grey & they were rock climbing up the left edge of this mountain when I took the pic.
Here's my view the other way...nearly to the top of Red Cone.
Red Cone summit. I had a view of seven area lakes as well as Mammoth Ski Mountain, the Minarets & other mountains I don't know the names of. :-)
It was nice to have cell service to get periodic photo updates from Bob & the climbers!
Tomorrow I'll post their rock climbing shots which are spectacular!

Tuesday afternoon (6/22): Ashley & Jerome ready to kayak the last part of the Upper Truckee River & then continue East along the shoreline of South Lake Tahoe.
Go Ashley!
Go Jerome!
They're off for a 1 hour tour.
Once to the lake they paddled from The Keys Beach to El Dorado Beach.
The finish at El Dorado Beach. Nice work!
Jerome took some better photos that I'll add to this post later.
