Me: I went garage saling on my bike today! I started with the Lifetime Crew at 6am but took some money with me just in case I found some sales. ;-) About 20 miles into the ride I spotted an Estate Sale. Nothing there. I went to about 8 more sales and ended up finding 2 items; an Elvis picture (shown above) and a View Master that Kavan will like. With 6 miles left to get back home, I got a large trash bag, ripped two arm holes in it, strapped it on my back with the items and off I went. It was kinda fun but doubt I'll combine my two hobbies again. Makes it tough to do either well. :-)

Me: A little bit of everything today: mountain biking, garage sales, grocery shopping, Kavan babysitting, home projects, laundry, chocolate, appliance browsing and several phone calls with Bob who's in Florida. Finished my afternoon with the most relaxing pedicure (I fell asleep!). :-) I will spare you a before photo of my toes but it was very apparent that Tahoe's mountains and beaches left them battered. Now it's Harley time.

 Me: Honeymoon photos from 14 years ago - time flies when you're having fun! :-) We had an adventurous time in Hawaii then; playing volleyball on the beach, surfing, sailing, eating and exploring (a lot like our adventures ever since). It's great to still feel like we're on our honeymoon!

Me: Today we drove and drove and made it to Phoenix by 5pm. It's good to be home again! Before leaving Tahoe I took a few photos of the cabin (wish I had taken more) to show a few of the small projects we did while there. Hung a new lower kitchen curtain to go with the snazzy original mushroom drapes. Put a finish of Old English on the cabinets and added a few plants (fake ones).

In the master bedroom we bought a new comforter, added white blinds to the windows and replaced two lamp shades. Added some baskets and a bouquet of fake tulips.

Also hung some fish art that we bought 2 years ago in Tahoe at a garage sale.

We love staying at the cabin and enjoy doing some little touches too.

Me: We arrived at our friends' home in Mammoth Lakes last night. Pete (Bob's high school buddy) and  Deanna have lived in Mammoth since 1999. They have two super cute boys; Max and Theo. Pete is a family doctor at the local hospital and Deanna, in addition to being a stay at home mom, works part time as a home visit child development counselor. We had a great time catching up with them and then spent the night. 

Today Pete & Deanna were working so they sent Bob & I on one of their favorite road rides. A lovely 57 mile route through mountains & around lakes. This is Silver Lake.

Back at the Clark's home Deanna made a delicious Tilapia dinner and then it was drinks on the porch. Not long after this photo Pete and Bob spotted a mama bear with her baby bear walking the hill behind them. Deanna, the kids and I joined them to watch the bears meander through the trees. Yay, that makes our trip complete. :-)

We'll be heading out in the morning to drive 11 more hours back to Phoenix.

Me: Bob got in yesterday, we packed up this morning and are leaving Tahoe this afternoon. Thought I'd post some photos a professional photographer took the day we rode with Jens, Andy and Frank.

 We had a great time this day and our whole stay in Lake Tahoe.
It's a special place. We'll be back!

The Yosemite "Rim Fire" is still burning out of control (5% contained), a 200 sq mile blaze. Keeping the fire fighters and those living in that area in our prayers. I thought the air quality in Lake Tahoe was a bit better this morning but now it's looking worse again. Bob gets here this afternoon and I think we're going to pack up and head back to Phoenix tomorrow or Monday. I had planned to drive home Sept 3rd but no reason to stay here with the air so bad.

Harley hiding behind the veterinarian's counter yesterday. They gave her liquids under the skin, an antibiotic, and a 2 day mild food plan. Hope she feels better soon!

Me: As if Bob and I getting sick wasn't enough, Harley had to too. Poor baby has had very watery diarrhea for 2 days now. I called the vet and they said to bring her in at 4 today.

So Harley and I are taking it easy. We went for a walk in the woods this morning (you can see the thick fire smoke behind Harley). It's bothering my eyes quite a bit so we're limiting outside time. I heard the Yosemite fire is only 2% contained. Not good.

Me: This photo is from last night's paddle board race. Harley and I were only spectators. I learned my lesson a couple weeks ago when I nearly finished last and elbowed that 5 year old in our 20 yard sprint to the line. ha. :-)

The water was calm and the sky had a lovely pink glow. I realized today that the glow was likely from nearby fires. :-(

 Here are those mountains - same shot on August 12th. I sure hope the fires get under control soon. I am out of the news loop so don't know for sure where it's burning and how much.

I had planned to mountain bike this afternoon but with the air quality decided against it. Maybe Harley and I will go to a movie (do you think they'll know she's a dog?).

Me: While Harley and I had a relaxing morning at our favorite cabin...

Playa Blanca, Dominican Republic

Harley and I went on a new hike this evening. Since it had rained this afternoon there was only one other hiker on the trail.

That would have been good news except that he had just seen a bear and was asking me what to do (the bear he saw just walked off into the trees). We had a discussion about it and then decided to walk together putting Harley on the look-out. Still enjoyed the view despite being a little on edge.

Me: Harley and I hung around the cabin most of the day but his evening we drove to the north side of the lake. I wanted to meet a women's mountain biking group for their 5:30pm Tuesday ride. I'm glad I went as I met some nice gals and got acquainted with new trails.

Me: Dropped Bob off at the Reno airport at 6am and now it's just Harley and I for a few days. After e-mails & catching the blog up at Starbuck's we're going to the Reno Home Depot and Target to pick up a couple things for the cabin. Pretty sure we'll stop at the large chocolate factory too (just outside of town on our way back to Lake Tahoe).
