Martin: Liked this shot of the Ghost gum in our neighbou's back yard.
Me: Photo from Bob's mountain bike ride this morning. Nice sunrise! Harley and I went hiking. She wanted to train for the Mt. Humphrey's hike we're doing on September 8th.
Martin: Leftovers from Adrian printing out his 80 page wood technology report for school to be marked with his constructed hall table.
.
Me: Abbie, Mike, Nancy, Bob and I hiked a new trail in north Scottsdale this evening. It's the Sunrise Trail and we reached Sunrise Peak at sunset! Beautiful trek!
Martin: Finally back to continuing the outside house painting.
Today is our 13th Wedding Anniversary!!
Bob and I were married on top of Heavenly Mountain overlooking beautiful Lake Tahoe. It was a gorgeous day shared with a small group of family and friends. After dinner and cake we took our wedding guests on a fun hike. It was a wonderful celebration then and we're still celebrating today!
Pics from our favorite blue building in Leadville, CO
Tonight our friend, Troy invited us to go with him to the Diamondbacks game. He had three extra tickets so we took our nephew, Mike too. It was such a treat as we sat near home plate about 8 rows up from the field...sweet! Mike even got on TV. Look at the photo above; see the guy standing with his arms in the air, just left of the San Tan sign?...that's Mike! :-) Pretty fun!
Me: Bob removed our dead lemon tree today. We're making room for planting a grapefruit, orange and a new lemon tree!! We think around October the weather will be good for planting citrus!
It was 6 months ago when we were in Australia. Really, it's already been half a year since our incredible vacation in the land down under? Hard to believe that much time has passed since we were hanging out with Martin, Ruth, Adrian and Daniel in Sydney, marveling the Opera House and having a blast. Missing Australia and our friends today!
I bought rhubarb at the grocery store - first time ever. In fact, I don't know if I've ever seen rhubard sold at the grocery store before. So, I had to buy it because I grew up eating a lot of rhubarb! My Grandma Jacobsen made the best rhubarb tapioca dessert, yummy! My mom made rhubard sauce (eat it alone, with milk or pour it over ice cream). Mmm! Mom also makes the most delicious rhubarb crisp! Now my mouth is watering. And last year, during Ragrbai week, April and I ate plenty of rhubarb pie (it was EVERYWHERE)! Well, today I made rhubarb sauce. It was easy peasy and good! I like rhubarb! Is it obvious?
Me: Dug the unicycle out of storage. It's been a few years and I'm rusty. Need practice to keep up with some friends who just got their unicycles out of storage too!
This afternoon Bob, Abbie & I drove to the northwest valley to meet Carol, Paul, Nathan and April for an afternoon on the water. We nearly had the whole lake to ourselves. Carol and Paul provided the boat, jet skis, snacks and drinks! Great fun, thanks guys!
Our place is going to the dogs! :-) Not really, but we have been running doggie day camp here all weekend. Lily & Lily's parents are picking them up Monday evening. They got along great and are a funny trio.
Me: Bob and I took Abbie and Mike mountain biking in South Mountain. It was their 1st try at mountain biking and they did GREAT! No crashes, though Abbie had a close call (phew). It was a fun outing!
Me: I think we stopped at every chocolate store, ice cream parlor and pie shop from Leadville to Phoenix. This is our favorite pie place in Rock Springs, AZ. Bob had coconut cream pie and I had Rhubarb crumb a la mode. Oh so good! We're definitely going to take Karen and Charlie here when they come to visit in October!
Today was a traveling day. But before we left town we ate breakfast at our favorite Leadville bakery/coffee shop. I LOVE this artist's work hanging on the walls; bikes painted on old windows!
A couple pics from our Friday pre-ride (day before the race). 1st pic: Bob, me, Dean & Heidi. 2nd pic: same 4 plus Ryan on the left. Ryan broke 8 hours on race day! Awesome!! He's a youngster - just 21.
On the ride back to our rental house we biked past a funky old building.
Me: Awards ceremony this morning where we got our belt buckles for finishing under 12 hours (plus a finisher's sweatshirt). Fun! Kimo and Geoff got the BIG belt buckle for finishing under 9 hours! Studs! :-) Not all our Arizona Leadville friends are in this pic.
Want to show 2 photos from the racers meeting on Friday. It was like a pep rally with a cameo by Lance Armstrong!
There was a 10k run at noon today. Bob and I didn't compete (ha), but Wendy did and even Brooke ran part of the race!
Tyler and I jogged Brooke across the finish line. Great job Brooke and Wendy!
Mike, Danielle and the kids headed back to Denver today. It sure was great to have them in Leadville all week. Such a fun time! This pic was taken on Friday in front of the cabin they rented on 6th street which was on the start/finish road for the Leadville 100.
We are staying one more night in Leadville & will start driving home tomorrow.
