Martin: Drum major at the Scottish Highland Gathering held at Bundanoon.

Me: Got up at 3:45am to drive to Tucson at 4:30am. Started biking Mt. Lemmon at 7:00am. Rode to the top (9,157ft), biking a total of 67 miles. Ate yummy pepperoni pizza in Summerhaven before descending 30 miles fast down the mountain. Home at 3:30pm. Good day. We're beat!

Martin: There were over five hundred pipes and drummers in this combined performance. Sound was unbelievable. The columns were turning around at this point to march back up the field.

Me: My mother-in-law told me about this program: Cranes for Kids. OSH KOSH will donate one article of clothing to Japan for every origami crane that is made and dropped off in one of their stores. A way to reach out to those affected by the Tsunami. I made some cranes today.

Martin: In the front garden this morning. Had to break the web to open the car door. Who gave this guy the plans to his trap?

Me: Here it is!!! We moved the distressed/refinished table inside (finally!). I really like how it turned out. Yay!

Me: Industry Bikes (our friend's bike shop) organized a group mountain bike ride in South Mountain this morning. Bob, myself and a good turnout of friends joined in the outing. 30 miles on the trails.

Martin: Adrian doing his 5km run. The course started in San Souci, across the Captain Cook Bridge to Taren Point and return.

Me: Bob, Harley and I went hiking this morning. Yay, Bob's home again! He took the photo of Harley and I in a yoga  pose.

Martin: View towards the city today from the top level of the car park at Miranda Fair - our local mall.

 

Me: Put on the 3rd and final clear coat today. Tomorrow I'm moving the table into the dining area!! Woo hoo! I really like how the table came out...fingers crossed that it looks good in the house.

Martin: My sister sent me a picture that she came across. That's me prepared for a hectic day of varied water sports activities. Floaty, fishing rod and rubber duck. 

Me: Bob sent me this photo of his jet waiting for de-icing. Brrrrr.

Martin: Here's one from this morning looking out the front door - half hour after sunrise.

Me: Rain drops on my windshield. It rained all day. A treat for us Arizonians.

Martin: Here is a pic from the local news of a young orphaned albino Eastern Grey Kangaroo (Joey) named Lara found near Queanbeyan (aroud 300km SW of us). The kangaroo on the right shows the natural colour for this species.

Me: Our roses are really blooming these days. Roses are my favorite flower. My Grandma Jacobsen loved them too.

Martin: Yesterday's cross country race in the rain through the national park at Grey's Point. Adrian came second in the 5km run.

Me: Bob's first day back on the job and look'n good! Bob flew out early this morning and was heading to the east coast.

Martin: Soggy front garden!

Me: This is Helen (mother of our good friend, Ken). Helen is also our good friend and she rents one of our rental homes. I went to visit Helen today and in addition to feeding me chocolate she showed me the beautiful flowers in her yard that she takes care of. Helen is 97 years old and a wonderful lady!

Martin: Cupboard drawer fronts ready for attaching.

Me:  My $50 thrift store table is soon going to be worth $50,000! Labor costs are adding up. After days of sanding I finally stained the top of the table and this morning I put on the finishing protective coat, but by afternoon I was having Bob help me sand it all over again. Ugh. The clear coat did not dry well and thus needed to be taken off so we're tackling the job all over again. Practice makes perfect and makes us real tired too.

Martin: Frangipani through the back window on another wet morning.

Me: This evening we had a picnic at Anna's place. Anna (sitting next to me) lives just around the corner from us. A few other friends came over and we ate pizza, salad and cupcakes.

Martin: Inside the paint pot before it was stirred.

Me: Anna (friend & neighbor), Bob and I played some frisbee golf this evening on the fairways in front of our home. Lovely temps these days.

Martin: This is where I want to be this afternoon - my sister-in-law's back garden!

Me: FREE! I found this stained glass piece in a pile of garbage that someone was throwing out. Couldn't believe it, it's beautiful. I brought it home and we hung it in our upstairs front window. Fits prefectly!

Me: Two paragliders getting ready to launch from the top of South Mountain today (Bob road biked here this morning). The view is overlooking Ahwatukee.

Martin: Trying the close-up equipment on Adrian.

Me: Bob, myself and our friend James explored some new trails in South Mountain today. We were gone for 4 hours! Midway trough the ride is an enormous steep climb (see photo) followed by a knarly descent. We liked the 1st 3/4 of the ride but the last 1/4 was rocky, unridable in many spots and thus a bit frustrating. It was still a nice morning on the mountain bikes.

Martin: Adrian after his start of the season cross-country run this afternoon at Bottle Forest in the Royal Park.

Me: Just finished painting this stool a vibrant teal color. Found it at Goodwill for $5 (I love thrift stores!) when we were visiting Bob's folks in California.

Martin: Lot of wind gusts this afternoon but at least it cleared the grey skies.

Me: Little potted flower that sits on our front patio wall. What kind is it?

Martin: Pine cone in the park.

Me: I bought an old kitchen table at the thrift store a couple weeks ago and now Bob and I are sanding it to make it look even older (distressed). It's a big project. We're about 1/2 way done with the sanding & then we'll stain it. If it turns out like I envision...I think it will be cool.

Me: Mmmmm. Fresh squeezed orange juice! Oranges, grapefruit and lemons are ripe & plentiful this time of year. Just picked a bag full from our friend's tree and put our juicer to the test. Come on over!
